Bay Schools Honor Choir

Twelve students in grades 4-5 participated in the Oberlin Chorister’s Honor Choir on Saturday, March 2. The students arrived at Stocker Center at LCCC at 9 a.m., rehearsed, had lunch, rehearsed again and then performed for a packed house a…t 3 p.m. The guest director was Dr. Sandra Mathias, former director of the Columbus Children Choir. Dr. Mathias is nationally known for her work with children’s choirs. She taught at Capital University and has influenced many music educators. The students are Bay Middle School fifth-graders Rebecca Thomas, Olivia Jacobs, Liza Dwyer, Sarah Sutherland, Ellie La Motte, Gigi Maddux; and Westerly Elementary fourth-graders Adam Zeidler, Ezra Fleeman, Elizabeth Kotora, Paige Kawa, Charlie Shenk, Annalise Johnson. Carrie Engelbrecht is the students’ teacher/advisor in the activity, and she was assisted by Elaine Dwyer.
