2 unlocked cars were gone through in a Hunters Point driveway on the night of Oct. 14. A wallet with $100 cash and credits cards was taken; one of the credit cards was illicitly used on Oct. 15 at an unknown location. No suspects.

Contractor Ripped

$2700 worth of drywall tools were taken from a Westlake Village Dr. jobsite sometime Oct. 13-15. They had been rented by the contractor; no suspects.

Thefts

The following items were taken from a Walter Rd. man’s 2005 Chevrolet Malibu on the evening of Oct. 15:  a laptop computer, cellphone, laptop bag, $30 cash, and an unknown number of CDs. He noticed his vehicle had been rummaged through around 12:41AM on Oct. 16.

A Center Ridge Rd. man’s 2010 Hyundai Elantra disappeared from his parking lot on the night of Oct. 15. It turned up on Cleveland’s east side on Oct. 16. No suspects

Shoplifter Chase.

North Olmsted PD had a shoplifting incident on Oct. 16 in which the suspect vehicle was last seen on Columbia Rd. northbound into Westlake. At 7:38PM, a Brantwood Dr. resident reported that a car had driven through the retention basin behind her home and was now stuck. The driver nearly struck a WPD officer on foot who responded to that call, and the pursuit was on. The suspect fled eastbound on Westwood Rd., south on Clague Rd. back into North Olmsted, and then east on Lorain Rd. into Fairview Park, where WPD called off the pursuit. Later that evening, NOPD arrested the 19-year-old North Olmsted man driving. WPD contemplates filing Assault on a Police Officer charges against him.

No Getaway

A passing sergeant noticed a vehicle repeatedly crashing into a light pole and the building at a Center Ridge Rd. saloon on Oct. 17 at 2:44AM. The 46-year-old Rocky River man then took off eastbound on Center Ridge Rd. when signaled to stop. He fled (albeit rather slowly) into Rocky River, where RRPD put out stop sticks; he stopped near his home on River Oaks Dr. and was arrested for OVI. He gave a .175 breath sample; other charges include Driving Under Suspension, Fleeing and Eluding, Wanton-Willful Disregard of Safety, and No Seat Belt.
