Westlake Church Robbed for Third Time

Westlake Police report that a Hilliard Blvd. church was broken into between Dec. 7-9. This is the third burglary there in recent weeks. Entry was gained by using bodily force on an exterior door. Computer equipment and a TV were taken (total value $1657.00).

A 23-year-old Columbia Station woman complained about unwanted attentions being paid her on Dec. 9. A 33-year-old Westlake man who works out at the same gym follows her around the gym and in the parking lot. The gym has revoked his membership. When officers went to his apartment complex to interview him, the management there reported that female residents also had complaints about his behavior. He was advised to stay off the gym property.

An Avon man found that unknown suspect(s) had opened five cellphone accounts with his information on Dec. 9. The bill was received at his mother’s Westlake home, which he is buying. He does not expect that the carrier will hold him responsible for the $152 bill.

A 31-year-old Cleveland man failed to stop when signaled by an officer on Dec. 10 at 8:26PM. He had hit a sign on I90 westbound, then exited and went back eastbound. When boxed in on the South Marginal Rd. in Lakewood by police, he refused to get out of his Jeep. A WPD officer broke a window and pulled him out.  He was found to be under the influence and arrested. He refused a breath test.

At the station, this same male put items over the camera and urinated in his cell. He then claimed to be having chest pains, but would not give WFD paramedics any specifics. At the hospital, he refused treatment. He was charged with Failure to Control, OVI, Weaving Course and Fleeing. His medical antics earned him a Making False Alarms charge as well.

From the “Wow. Just wow” files: staff at a Center Ridge Rd. apartment complex reported a car had been running in the parking lot for two days. It was a rental car traced to a resident, who thought that since it had a push button start-stop ignition, it would shut itself off. A kindly maintenance man offered to give her a quick tutorial on using same.

A 47-year-old North Ridgeville man with 5 prior OVI convictions was arrested for his sixth on Dec. 13 at 1:08AM. He was stopped on Detroit Rd. near the Lorain Co. line after committing two moving violations. His breath test yielded a .191 result; he faces a Felony OVI charge, as well as Driving under Suspension, Speed, and Weaving.

A Clemens Rd. business reported that counterfeit checks drawn on its account were being passed in PA and NJ. One was cashed; two others were not. This offense was reported on Dec. 13. The company was reimbursed by the bank for the cashed check. The investigation continues.

A 21-year old man and 20-year-old woman (both of Sandusky) were arrested after stealing a $22 hat from a Crocker Pk. Blvd. store on Dec. 13 at 6:22PM. The male was charged with Petty Theft, and the female with Complicity to Petty Theft and Possession of Criminal Tools (the purse she hid the hat in).

Christmas gifts worth $170 were stolen from the storage locker of a Westown Blvd. woman’s apartment building between Nov. 30 and Dec. 13. The hasp was removed from the locker door and then replaced; no suspects.

An intoxicated 42-year-old Stonegate Cr. man was arrested for Domestic Violence on Dec. 15 after a 12:55AM incident with his sober 40-year-old wife. The suspect grabbed her by the neck and threw her against a wall and onto a bed.
