Bay Police: Resident Reports Tax Fraud

bay police logo 130121011959_bay-village-police-300x168An East Oviatt resident came to the Bay Village Police Dept. on Feb. 25  to report she had been the victim of a fraud.  She attempted to file her Federal and State taxes on-line, and had them rejected both times.  When she contacted the IRS, she learned that someone in Louisiana had used her Social Security number and already filed a tax return that paid the person $11,000.  Police are investigating.

 

More Fraud

On 02/26/2014, at 1218 hrs, a Lake Rd. resident reported that she either lost or had her wallet stolen the day before.  Someone used her credit cards and charged almost $500.00 worth of merchandise to them.  Police are investigating.

 

Trash Fire at Bay High

On 02/26/2014, at 1832 hrs, BVPD responded to Bay High School for a fire that was intentionally set in a trash can.  The fire was out prior to police arrival.  Police are investigating.

 

You’re Never Too Old

On 02/28/2014, at 0556 hrs, a resident in the 23000 block of Knickerbocker called to report one of his neighbors was playing his stereo very loudly.  Officers responded and cited the 62 yoa resident for disturbing the peace.

 

Pizza Light Special

On 03/02/2014, at 0015 hrs, an irate resident in the 24000 block of Knickerbocker called BVPD to complain that a pizza delivery person had pulled into his driveway and used a flashlight to light up the front of his house in an attempt to locate an address.  He didn’t order a pizza, but his neighbor did.  An officer spoke to the caller, and referred him to the pizza company.

 

OVI’s

On 02/24/2014, at 0246 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Dover Center for a traffic violation.  After speaking the 37 yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI.  The Westlake resident will face charges at RRMC.

 

On 03/01/2014, at 0344 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Wolf Rd. near Huntmere for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 41 yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI.  The Bay Village resident will face charges at RRMC.
