Last year, Bay Village beat out 64 other northeast Ohio communities to rank #1 in the region in the 2013 National Bike Challenge.
Bay Village had 27 riders who rode a total of 27,685 miles during the 5 month challenge! We know that many more Bay residents rode their bicycles last summer, but their miles were not counted in the challenge. No matter how little you ride, we want you to join Village Bicycle Cooperative in the 2014 National Bike Challenge! Every mile counts!
This is NOT a fundraiser, so you don’t need to solicit any money from friends. In this challenge, you simply sign up for a free account and log your bicycling miles between Thursday, May 1, 2014 and Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Local cities, and cities around the country, are pitted against each other.
The cumulative total of all miles biked by all participants is also used in advocacy campaigns aimed at increasing funding for safe biking infrastructure throughout the country.
Signing up and logging miles for the National Bike Challenge is easy. It only takes a few minutes to sign up and less time to log miles. Instructions are in the PDF linked here:
