Learn About the Porter Library Gift Shop

WPPL HeadingHave you visited the Westlake Porter Public Library’s gift shop lately?  It is run 100% by volunteers!275 IMG_5655

Portables is a unique gift shop located inside the lobby of Westlake Porter Public Library!  We are open every day of the week except for Sundays in the summer.  We carry over 8 lines of jewelry and several lines of purses.  We also sell scarves, wraps, ponchos, Root Candles and four greeting card lines that start at $1.00.

In 1992, a group of Friends of WPPL had the foresight to start the shop.  It started as a small counter, moved to the temporary library, and is now a full-fledged business and integral part of both the library and the Westlake community.

Our business is unique because all of our proceeds go back to the library.  Our profits provide money to the library to use for public programs that are not included in the library’s budget.  We are owned and operated by the Friends of WPPL, and 15 volunteers staff the shop.   We carry Made in the USA items.

We go to buying events and industry trade shows to bring back the most current fashions and unique gifts for our customers!

We offer a one-time/year discount of 10% off to our Friends members (memberships start at $10).

Portables items are reasonably priced.  The gift shop holds seasonal sales, sidewalk sales, and has a clearance section in the store.

The next time you’re in the library, check us out, along with your books!
