University Hospitals Elyria Wound Care Center is proud to announce that Lisa Osborne, RN, has received the 2015 Mary Cook Nurse of the Year Award from Healogics, Inc. The award is presented annually to a dedicated, skilled and compassionate nurse manager from within the Healogics organization. The awardee is chosen based on their commitment to the patient with an emphasis on improvement in wound care.

The UH Elyria Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics Network of more than 810 centers, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating more than two million chronic wounds. The Elyria center, along with its sister facility in Westlake, offer highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

A registered nurse, Ms. Osborne is a dedicated team player with a track record of success in wound care. She takes on additional responsibilities when needed, leads her wound care center team effectively and has a patient satisfaction score of 94 percent for 2014. Ms. Osborne has dual master’s degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Health Administration (MHA), and continues her learning by regularly attending wound symposiums and other professional development events.

“It is quite an honor to have one of our nurses recognized as the Mary Cook Nurse of the Year,” said Ken Larissey, Director of the UH Elyria and UH Westlake Wound Care Centers. “Lisa Osborne is an exemplary employee and an even better nurse.” He continued, “It is because of the truly special care that our nurses and physicians provide that we are able to heal wounds and change lives. Lisa is genuinely deserving of this recognition.”
