AVON, Ohio – The Avon Early Childhood PTA (AECPTA) is looking to add new members, as well as renew current members during the club’s annual Membership Drive scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Schwartz Road Park Pavilion in Avon.
Families are encouraged to turn out for a fun event which will feature ice cream, a bounce house, face painting, a craft and more! The Avon Police Department will be on hand for kid prints and Superintendent of Avon Schools, Michael Laub, will also be in attendance.
AECPTA board members will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the club and membership benefits. Membership dues are $35 for the 2015-2016 school year and are renewable each year.
AECPTA is a family organization providing educational and social activities for parents, caregivers, and children from birth through Kindergarten in Avon and the surrounding communities. AECPTA offers members an abundance of entertaining and educational monthly activities as well as special events throughout the year.
A popular fundraising event from the AECPTA is the Kids Kloset semi-annual consignment sale. This year, the sale will be held at the NEW Avon Middle School (3445 Long Rd) in Avon this year. The event brings parents together and offers a smart way to earn money for outgrown children’s items while offering new parents the opportunity to purchase needed items at a fraction of the cost. Club members receive early registration for tables.
The club offers many options for young families to meet and get involved in the community; we have playgroups, and fieldtrips, plus parent-only activities so that every member of the family can feel included.
The club also gives back to the community. Last year, the AECPTA donated $500 towards the purchase of a “Buddy Bench” for the new Avon Early Learning Center. The “Buddy Bench” fosters inclusion and kindness in youngsters by helping students find playmates during recess. The group also provides household good donations to Blessing House, which is a local charity that offers children a place to stay when their families are facing an emergency. AECPTA collects donations for Blessing House at the club’s many family events throughout the year.
Since the AECPTA has members that include children from birth to six-years-old, we constantly have new families joining and existing families moving on to other groups in the community once they “graduate” from ours. It is vitally important for our group that new members join and get involved so that the club can continue to serve the youngest members of our community and their families.
Please join us for a year of new friendships, community involvement, and enriching experiences for you and your family! General meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month Sept.-May, at 7 p.m. at Avon Heritage North Elementary School (35575 Detroit Road). Babysitting for the meeting is provided for all potential and current members free of charge.
AECPTA started as Avon Preschool Parent’s Club and has since grown to become a part of the Ohio and National PTA. The club is not affiliated with any specific school or program in Avon.
