The focus groups will be conducted by facilitators from Finding Leaders, a search firm specializing in education leaders that has been retained by the Board of Education. School district faculty and staff members are also participating in focus groups earlier in the day.
Bay Village School Board to Hold Focus Groups on Superintendent Search November 15
The Bay Village Board of Education is holding several focus groups on the evening of Wednesday, November 15, to help determine the qualities and characteristics of the district’s next superintendent of schools.
Members of the public are invited to attend a meeting either at the Bay Village City Council Chambers (350 Dover Center Road) at 6:30 p.m., or at the Bay Village Public Library (502 Cahoon Road) at 8 p.m. Parents of current students of the Bay Village Schools are invited to a meeting at the Board of Education office (377 Dover Center Road) at 6:30 p.m.
All sessions are expected to take one hour or less. School board members will not be in attendance at the meetings so that attendees are more comfortable expressing opinions. This is somewhat informal, qualitative research. There will be no recording of numbers in categories, for example, as facilitators are simply looking for trends.
The district’s current superintendent, Clint Keener, has announced that he will retire at the end of the current school year after having served 14 years in the position. He gave a year’s notice to the school board so that a thorough search for his replacement can be conducted.
