Westlake Students Honor Veterans

Veterans are being honored nationwide this week as Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11 celebrates our former military servicemen and women.

Students at Westlake’s Holly Lane and Bassett Elementary Schools proudly welcomed veterans to their schools for Veteran’s Day assemblies to honor these men and women who live in our communities.

Students sang patriotic songs, offered hand-made cards of thanks and also carnations. Veterans were welcomed to Holly Lane for a Wednesday assembly and Bassett School hosted its assembly this morning.

Veteran’s, you have made the difference for all who enjoy our freedoms. Thank you!

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
