Michael Waugh Named Principal of Lutheran West High School Effective June, 2018

On behalf of the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association, I am extremely pleased to announce that Michael Waugh has accepted our offer to become the next Principal of Lutheran West High School in Rocky River, Ohio. His philosophy of education, experience in Lutheran secondary schools in Cleveland and Milwaukee, and multiple advanced degrees distinguished Mike as our preferred candidate for this position of influence and authority within the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association.

Mike began his career as a teacher at Lutheran West and was instrumental in the implementation of The Senney Honors Academy, serving as Dean in addition to his teaching duties. His career took him to Milwaukee Lutheran High School where he served as the Assistant Principal of Academics and head of curriculum. His tenure at Milwaukee Lutheran will span three years of valuable new experiences before his return to Lutheran West in 2018.

Mike is a 2002 graduate of Lutheran West High School, earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Valparaiso University, Master of Arts in Teaching from Kent State University, and recently completed his Master of Business Administration degree from Grand Canyon University. Mike and his wife Jamie, Lutheran West class of 2002, and their children Lucas and Sydney look forward to returning to Cleveland and the CLHSA community.

Mr. Waugh follows Principal Dale Wolfgram who will be retiring at the end of the school year. Mr. Wolfgram is a dedicated Christian leader who will be completing ten years at Lutheran West. We are grateful for his service and look forward to celebrating his career and time with us as the school year comes to an end.

The Cleveland Lutheran High School Association (CLHSA) is well positioned for the future with expanding enrollment, new sources of funding for students, strong Church partners for our ministry, and a dedicated teaching staff. The challenges of maintaining and growing Christ-centered schools at Lutheran East and Lutheran West in these changing times require dynamic leadership. We feel that Mr. Waugh and Principal Chris Steinmann at Lutheran East will be excellent leaders at this time in our history.

Thank you to all who continue to support our ministry at the CLHSA. We will be celebrating our 70th year in 2018 and look forward to many more to come.
