Tuesday, February 20, at 7 p.m. the Westlake-Westshore Arts Council will sponsor Michelle Pauker performing in “Catch a Rising Star…Baldwin Wallace Music Theater in Recital” at Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road. This is the sixth year that WWAC has offered this entertaining program showcasing the musical talent of young, ascending stars, free to the community.
Accompanied on the piano by BW Associate Professor and Music Director Beth Burrier, Pauker will present a delightful mix of show tunes, including Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, and The Light in the Piazza, mixed with contemporary classics including the Beatles’ Let It Be.
Pauker, currently a senior in Baldwin Wallace University’s prestigious Music Theatre program, has extensive performance experience, including Maria in West Side Story and a leading role at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival last year in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She worked with Great Lakes down at Playhouse Square this past summer. She has performed in A Chorus Line, All Shook Up, and spent a summer at the Forestburgh Playhouse, New York State’s oldest professional summer theatre, where she appeared in five different shows.
The February 20 “Catch a Rising Star” program is an opportunity to enjoy the talents of a stellar young performer without cost. And, if time allows, the audience will be able to pose questions to the performers. The WWAC continues to further its mission to provide an enhanced and broadened cultural life that will promote awareness, education and involvement in the arts.
