Bay High senior Christine O’Hare cracked the elusive “Top 25” in the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibit with her photograph “Kenopsia.” The honor earns O’Hare the Governor’s Award of Excellence and the possibility of a scholarship offer by over 30 universities and colleges of art.
O’Hare has been inspired by photographer Fredrik Marsh’s “Dresden Project”, which explores abandoned residences in East Germany before their demolition to make way for modern spaces. “I wanted to create an Ohio version of that,” Christine said of her work.
Bay High students Allie Maust and Ana Baron also had paintings selected in the 300-piece Governor’s Youth Art Exhibit. The competition received about 11,000 entries from schools across Ohio.
