Bay Police Help Bust Break-in Ring

The pursuit and apprehension of a stolen car last week by Bay Police led to the arrest of four individuals believed to be part of a string of area break-ins.

Events came on 06/03/2018,at 13:15 hrs, when Bay Village officers were involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported to be involved in break-ins in Westlake and was identified as being stolen. Westlake PD provided a description and Bay Village officers observed the vehicle westbound on Lake Road. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled westbound on Lake Road into Avon Lake. Avon Lake was notified to assist. Bay Village officers were terminating the pursuit when the stolen fleeing vehicle struck a car on Lake at Jaycox in Avon Lake. The four occupants fled on foot and were caught and arrested. Three individuals from the stolen car were taken to hospitals for evaluation, as was the driver of the car struck by the fleeing vehicle. All four occupants of the stolen vehicle are facing felony charges.

Warrant Leads to Arrest

On 06/01/2018, at 01:42 hrs, an officer made a routine traffic stop on Clague Road at the I-90 overpass. The passenger suddenly fled on foot. Mutual aid was requested from Westlake PD. After about an hour search the 24-year old female from Cleveland was found where she was lying down, hiding in some underbrush. It was determined that she had fled since she knew she had a warrant with another agency. The driver of the vehicle was released, the passenger arrested.

Home Burglarized

On 05/31/2018, at 15:08 hrs, a resident on Upland Road called to say that while she had been at work her home had been burglarized. Officers responded and determined that entry had been gained via a north facing bathroom window. This particular window is obscured from view by several bushes and shrubs. The master bedroom had been rifled. The detective bureau is investigating.
