No wonder the guy was jumpy! A suspected 27 pounds of weed was discovered by Westlake Police the morning of July 9 when a car was pulled over for an equipment violation on I-90 and Crocker Road at 9:37 a.m.
The officer noticed that as the vehicle pulled over, the driver jumped into the back seat while the female passenger got behind the wheel. Officers observed indicators of criminal activity and discovered that both occupants had suspended licenses.
A search of the car revealed not only a scale, edible marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, but also a suitcase in the vehicle contained approx. 27 pounds of suspected raw marijuana. Both subjects, one a 30yo female from Rockville, MD and the other a 27yo male from Richmond Hts. OH, were charged with felony trafficking in marijuana.
Westlake K9 Assists in Fleeing Subject Arrest
Also on 7-9-18, a vehicle was stopped for multiple moving violations on Columbia Rd just south of Detroit.
The operator left the car in drive and fled on foot.
Luckily, the passenger was cooperative enough to stop the vehicle and place it in park. With the assistance of neighboring departments and the WPD K9 officers, the male was located hiding in a nearby neighborhood. Inside the vehicle officers discovered suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl as well as pills and paraphernalia. The captured male, a 32 yo from Cleveland, was charged with felony possession of drugs. The passenger was charged with misdemeanor attempted possession. Detectives also located a female driving in the area of the neighborhood where the driver ran. She was there in an attempt to help the driver get away from the scene and had a meth smoking pipe with her. This 33yo female from Cleveland was also arrested and charged with misdemeanor drug charges.
