The City of Avon hit a high note on July 21 when Mayor Bryan Jensen joined with Dave Mooibroek and the Avon Lions Club for the opening of the new ‘Harmony Circle’ at Avon’s ‘Every Child’s Playground’ located along Detroit Road next to the Aquatic Center.
“The Avon Lions Club generously donated the ‘Harmony Circle’ to our ‘Every Child’s Playground and we are looking forward to many children enjoying these wonderful pieces of musical equipment,” said Mayor Jensen.
Harmony Circle includes six pieces of oversized musical instruments for kids to use. The City received a commitment from the Lions Club last January and the project was fast-tracked with encouragement from the City and donations, many from participating Lions Club members, to make the project a reality this summer.
Musical instruments offer a unique way for kids and adults to be creative and express themselves both physically and emotionally.
“The Avon Lions Club has done so many great things for our city over the years. This is just another example of the many ways they make our City a better place. I am very excited to work with them on this project,” said Mayor Jensen when the project was launched. “Children of all abilities and needs will be able to enjoy these musical instruments at our park.”
