Seniors Surprise Everyone at Main Event! Now Open in Avon!

A dozen seniors, ranging from 75 to 95 years arrived for a bowling and pizza party at Main Event, the sparkling new entertainment center in Avon. Although a few people walked into this bright and colorful location using canes or walkers, bowling was accessible to all with bowling assist ramps that were made available to the group. Anyone who couldn’t throw the ball could still participate in bowling!

The lively occasion was coordinated between the gracious staff at the Main Event and Senior Wellness Advocate, Kathryn Eyring, host of a local TV show and www.AgingGracefully.TV, a blog celebrating seniors. “I love seeing older adults have fun,” she said, “and this entertainment center really made it happen!”

After lunch, one of the women surprised everyone when she asked if she could go up on the Gravity Ropes. After confirming that she really was serious, Main Event made it happen! Proving that this course really is enjoyable and safe for adults and kids of all ages, three seniors were hooked into harnesses and climbed up to the steps to test their agility on the swaying rope bridges, balancing planks, and zip line, while the remainder of the group watched and cheered from below. Once back on ground level, one of the gentlemen said, “I think I’m going to come back and do this again” and Kathryn smiled and said, “Well, doesn’t this prove we should never underestimate aging adults!”
