Survive. Don’t Drive!

If you are having chest pain, survive and call 9-1-1. Don’t drive yourself to the hospital.

Those few minutes and the preparedness of the EMS squad can make the difference between life and death!

Linda Owen, RN. MSN, Manager Cardiovascular Services UH St. John Medical Center, shared that message last week at the Westlake Rec Center where she spoke on the free calcium scoring heart tests being offered at UH St. John.

“Survive. Don’t drive.” she said. “We have Mission: Lifeline (American Heart Association) award-winning EMS services in our community. They are highly-trained and qualified professionals who respond to calls in Emergency Units that are literally hospitals on wheels. They contact us immediately with real-time data and those minutes can save your life.”

So, if you are out for dinner or, in last week’s weather, and you experience chest pains – Survive. Don’t Drive.

Free Calcium Scoring

Calcium scoring is one of several metrics, like cholesterol, that can assess the risk of coronary artery disease. The non-invasive 15 minute test simply images coronary arteries for the presence of calcium build-up. It is being offered for FREE at UH St. John Medical Center. Call 440 827-5668 to register.
