Incidents on Glenmore Dr: On 5/8/20 starting at approx. 7:00AM WPD took several reports of thefts on Glenmore Dr.
1) 2 unlocked vehicles were entered in the driveway of a residence. The suspects took items including a laptop and purse. It appears all the items were recovered in a nearby yard.
2) A second resident of the street reported that items were missing from his unlocked and detached garage. It is believed that most of these items, including a set of golf clubs, were recovered in the neighborhood as well. When officers were investigating the theft at the house, they learned that a person known to the resident had allegedly entered the home without permission and stole items from inside as well.
3) When investigating the other thefts, officers located an abandoned bicycle that was traced back to a third resident who then realized that it was taken from their unattached garage.
4) Finally, a 4th resident was located that had an unlocked vehicle rifled through while it was parked in the driveway overnight. Items from this vehicle were recovered.
- It appears all the thefts occurred overnight and are connected. Investigators are following up.
- Later in the day, at approx. 10AM, officers observed a male identified as a suspect in the Glenmore thefts walking on Center Ridge Rd in the area of Canterbury. A foot pursuit ensued which resulted in the capture of the 24yo Cleveland resident along with the recovery of stolen items from the thefts. The male will be charged through Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court

– On 5/2/20 at approx. 11AM an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation after observing it leaving the area of the Red Roof Inn. The driver misidentified himself after saying that he did not remember his social security number. When the man’s true identity was discovered officers found out he was driving under suspension and had an active felony warrant from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department. Investigation revealed that the vehicle contained suspected cocaine, an unknown liquid in a small vial along with an open container of alcohol. A 23yo male Cleveland resident, who had been a passenger, was advised about possible charges pending lab results. The driver, a 22yo Cleveland Hts. resident, was arrested and transported to the county jail due to his warrant.
– On 5/2/20 at about 3:20PM, an officer stopped a vehicle at the Red Roof Inn for a traffic violation. The officer noted signs of drug use in the car and investigated further. A search revealed scales with narcotic residue, cut straws, pills and suspected marijuana. In addition to the narcotics, a loaded handgun was found in the center console. Neither of the occupants had a concealed handgun license. Charges for both occupants will be presented to a county grand jury. The driver, a 27yo North Olmsted male, faces felony gun charges. The passenger, a 19yo Olmsted Falls female faces felony gun and drug charges.
– On 5/4/20 at approx. 11AM officers stopped a vehicle leaving the Red Roof Inn for a license violation. They detected evidence of drug use/possession in the vehicle and investigated further. Inside the vehicle, officers located a loaded semi-automatic handgun along with suspected marijuana, MDMA pills and scales. Neither of the occupants possessed a concealed handgun license. Felony charges for both occupants will be presented to a county grand jury. The driver, a 21yo male Cleveland resident faces felony weapons possession charges. The passenger, a 24yo female Cleveland resident faces drug trafficking charges pending drug lab results.
– On 5/6/20 at about 3:30AM WPD received a call from a female reporting that she had fled the Extended Stay Hotel on Clemens after a male assaulted her there. The female was found to be a 17yo who was reported missing from a Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) facility in Cleveland. The 36yo male Cleveland resident who had brought the juvenile voluntarily to Westlake was located and detained during the investigation. The victim was turned over to DCFS guardians. The male was charged with a felony sex offense and is currently being held in the Westlake jail with a $50,000 Cash or Surety bond.
3½ Time the Legal Limit
On 5/6/20 at about 4:30PM a concerned citizen called in a possible OVI on Center Ridge Rd in the area of Health Campus Bl. The caller reported that the driver was weaving between lanes and was yelling at other motorists. WPD officers caught up with the described car in the area of Center Ridge and Columbia Rds. The investigating officer noted that the driver smelled of an alcoholic beverage and had an open container of liquor between his feet. The 55yo male Cleveland resident thought he was on Scranton in Cleveland. After field testing the driver was arrested for OVI. He was transported to the WPD jail where he tested over 3 and ½ times the legal limit. He was charged with the OVI offenses as well as having improper plates.
Cocaine, Scales & Pills
On 5/8/20 at approx. 9:30PM an officer received a report of an erratic driver on Crocker Rd heading N/B toward Market St. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle for traffic violations but it continued on and pulled into the Gemini parking lot at Detroit Rd. An occupant of the vehicle threw objects, which were later found to be beer cans, out the door window of the car before it stopped in the parking lot. The male driver, a 22yo Cleveland resident, appeared intoxicated and was questioned and arrested for OVI. The passenger, a 26yo male resident of North Ridgeville, also appeared intoxicated. Investigation revealed that the pair were also in possession of suspected cocaine, scales and pills. The driver was charged with OVI, refusing a breath test after a prior OVI conviction and several traffic violations. The passenger was cited with Disorderly Conduct while intoxicated and littering from a motor vehicle. Both were released to a sober party. Drug charges will be filed pending results from the drug analysis.
