An Open Letter From Westlake City Schools

“Today (June 11) is our official last day of school. As we close out the 2019-2020 school year, we want to thank all of you for your support during this unparalleled time. From managing our way through COVID-19 to experiencing civil unrest throughout our country, WCSD and our Board of Education will always have the safety of our students and their families as a top priority. We take pride in our diverse student population and will continue to condemn any form of racism or discrimination.

“While we have faced many difficulties and challenges that none of us could have predicted only a few short months ago, it’s important to take this time to not only mourn, remember and reflect, but also to celebrate. Celebrate our inclusive community that embraces everyone and warmly welcomes families, students and staff from all backgrounds. Celebrate the Class of 2020 and all of their accomplishments – we wish you all the very best! And, to celebrate our students, staff and parents/guardians who banded together to adapt to a remote learning environment.

“I’m proud to say, as a school district, and as a larger community, we have risen to the challenges of this year with resiliency and open-mindedness as we continue to educate our students for excellence. We hope you all have a safe summer and take the time to have a meaningful impact on others. We look forward to seeing you all next school year!”
