Avon, Avon Lake Gridders Named to All-State Team

Avon High quarterback Nikko Pappas and Avon Lake lineman Alex Padgett have been selected to the  Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association Div. II All-State first team, reports the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Pappas, a 6-0 185 pound senior, lead the Eagles to an SWC championship and Regional title. Padgett, at 6-5 and 300 pounds, paced the Shoremen to the regional runner-up honors.

Named to the All-State first team defense are lineman Kadyn Viancourt, Avon Lake, 6-0, 192, and defensive back  Alden Steele, Amherst Steele, 5-10, 160.

Second team offensive honors go to running back  Gage Duesler, Avon Lake, 5-10, 170, and lineman Mason Bingham, Avon, 5-11, 240.

Alex Padgett (57) has been an anchor for the Avon Lake football team (junior year photo).

Third team offensive honors go to wide receiver Ty Weatherspoon, Amherst Steele, 6-4, 195, and kicker Owen Wiley, Avon Lake, 5-11, 165.

Third team defensive honors go to linebacker Devon Hunter, Avon, 5-11, 200, and punter Billy Simpson, Avon Lake, 6-2, 180.
