Avon Student Named National Merit Finalist

Avon High School is pleased to announce senior Cole Emerine, 18, has been named a Finalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.

There are approximately 15,000 Finalists throughout the country in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered later this spring.

Cole Emerine, 18 – High school activities: Hockey team (captain), Cross Country team (captain), Track team, Avon Future Scholars of Medicine Club (President); Hobbies: Learning new things; Potential college(s): Would like to attend school out west. Possible schools include: Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); Potential college major(s): Microbiology, Molecular biology; Parents: Jeff and Carolyn Emerine; Last year Emerine earned the highest possible ACT Composite score of 36.
