Westlake Plans for Parades, Fireworks, Senior Center Opening

Things are gearing up for a post-pandemic Westlake!

Westlake is planning both Memorial Day and Fourth of July Parades this year.

The City of Westlake reports that Mayor Clough’s 2021 State of the City address is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 11:30 a.m., at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 25054 Sperry Dr. The event is being sponsored by the Westshore Chamber of Commerce and will be recorded and made available on the Westlake Community Access Channel.

More exciting news! The annual Westlake Memorial Day Parade will be sponsored by the Westlake Kiwanis Club and held on May 31.

Best of All! The Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks has also been scheduled and is being organized by the city’s Recreation Department.

“These events were sorely missed last year and we are greatly looking forward to their return,” said Mayor Clough.

Senior Center: The exciting new Senior Center located on the Westlake Recreation Center grounds is nearing completion. The soft opening will be in mid-May with the larger scale opening projected to take place in mid-June.

Tree City: For the 30th year in a row, Westlake has been recognized as a Tree City USA community for its demonstrated commitment to sound urban forestry management by meeting four requirements year after year: (1) maintaining a tree board or department (2) having a community tree ordinance (3) spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and (4) celebrating Arbor Day.
