Thursdays, April 1, 8, 22 and 29 (3:30-4:30 p.m.) WPPL Roblox Club – Love Roblox? Then WPPL has a club for you! We have some private servers set up for Tweens in grades 4-6 to hang out with their friends and enjoy some of the most popular games via Zoom. Please register.

Sunday, April 4 Easter Sunday – Library Closed

Monday, April 5 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Baby-sitter’s Club Activity Bag Pick Up: Claudia’s Bag – Calling all Babysitters! Welcome to the Baby-sitters Club. Pick up your Babysitters club activity bags at the Youth Services Desk. Grades 5-8. Registration begins March 29.

Mondays, April 5 and 19 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Teen Craft Pick Up – Come to the Drive-Up Window to pick up a craft kit from February 1-7. Grades 7-12. Registration begins one week before each pick-up.

Monday, April 5 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Tween Craft Pick-Up – Come to the Youth Services Department starting today for a tween craft kit. Kits will be available for pick-up through 5 p.m. on March 14 unless other arrangements are made. Grades 4-6. While supplies last. Registration begins March 29.

Monday, April 5 (7-8 p.m.) Virtual Trivia Night @ Porter: National Library Week Edition (Live) – Join us on Zoom for a special National Library Week virtual trivia night! Play as a single player or family. To participate, please REGISTER to receive a Zoom invitation by email.

Tuesdays, April 6 and 27 (11-11:30 a.m.) and Wednesdays, April 14 and 28 (6:30-7 p.m.) Family Storytime (Live) – Join us on ZOOM for an interactive storytime featuring books, rhymes, songs and movement. For families with children up to 2-6, siblings welcome. Please register. Participants must provide an email address to receive Zoom instructions on the day of the program.

Tuesday, April 6 (3-3:45 p.m.) Celebrate National Library Week: Virtual Book Character Scavenger Hunt! (Live) – Participate in a virtual book character scavenger hunt on Zoom to celebrate National Library Week! All participants will need parental permission to grab these items in your own home! Grades K-4. Registration begins March 30. Participants must provide an email address to receive ZOOM instructions, which will be sent the day of the event.

Tuesday, April 6 (6-7:30 p.m.) Great Decisions (Live) – Join us on Zoom for the Great Decisions world events discussion. Based on materials produced by the Foreign Policy Association. Readings will be available ahead of time. Please register.

Tuesday, April 6 (7-8 p.m.) Silent Reading Book Club (Live) – Have you been meaning to read more? Join other teens in grades 7-12 via Zoom for a dedicated hour to silently read. Bring your own book. Registration begins March 30.

Wednesday, April 7 (6:30-8:30 p.m.) Horror Film Club: Online Edition – Are you scared yet? The Horror Film Club returns for another online viewing! New members are always welcome, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Please register. Due to an abundance of caution surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Horror Film Club will meet online using the video sharing site Watch2Gether. To participate, please check the event on the library’s website as early as 6 p.m. on the day of the program.  There will be a link to take you to the site. Please Note: You do not need an account with Watch2Gether to participate.

Friday, April 9 (4-4:30 p.m.) Cup of Science (Live) – Join Miss Holly on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube for a fun video on Stormy Science! Recommended for ages 4-6.

Saturday, April 10 (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) STEAM Maker Lab Supply Pick-Up – April is Financial Literacy Month! We’ll provide most of the supplies needed to make our own banks out of recycled materials and duct tape wallets. Kits available in the Youth Services Department. Grades 3-5. Please Note: Registration for the pick-up also registers you for the April 17 STEAM Maker program on Zoom. Please provide an email address to receive Zoom instructions before the program.

Saturday, April 10 (11-11:30 a.m.) Adapted Storytime (Live) – Join us for this ZOOM storytime designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime. Content is geared toward ages 3-7 years. Registration begins April 3. Participants must provide an email address to receive Zoom instructions, which will be sent the day of the program.

Sunday, April 11 (1-5 p.m.) Pet Day Craft Pick Up – It’s National Pet Day! Please stop by the Youth Services Department through 5 p.m. on April 18 to pick up a craft kit that celebrates pets! Registration begins April 4.

Sunday, April 11 (1-5 p.m.) American Girl Doll Club Pick-Up and Program – Earth Day Fun supply kits will be available beginning April 11. Ages 6-10. Registering for the supply pick-up will also register you for the ZOOM event on April 18 from 2-2:30 p.m. Participants must provide an email address to receive ZOOM instructions, which will be sent the day of the event. You will need a kit to participate in the program. Registration begins April 4.

Monday, April 12 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Busy Baby Bag Pick-Up – Looking for a way to keep your little one busy? Pick up a bag filled with craft and play activities to engage with and entertain your young child. Bags available through 5 p.m. on April 18. For children ages 2 and under. Registration begins April 5.

Monday, April 12 (6:30-7:30 p.m.) Budgeting and Money Flow (Live) – Learn about one of the basics of good money management – the budget. It is important to know what you earn and what you spend so that you can make better use of your hard-earned dollars. Learn what a budget is, why a budget is a good idea, the benefits of a budget, and the budgeting process. Then brainstorm some ideas on how to make practical changes that may assist you in meeting your financial goals. Presented on Webex by Robert Pennington with Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. Please register. Participants will receive log-in information the day before to attend this presentation via Webex.

Tuesday, April 13 (1-3 p.m.) Career Transition: Targeting Your Job Search (LIVE) – Are you prepared to have a successful interview today? Learn some basic expectations of the interviewer with extra tips from employers on how to succeed. Learn how to answer difficult questions, discuss salary needs, and what differentiates you from other candidates. Please register. Once registered for this presentation, you will receive an email containing instructions for joining us via Zoom.

Tuesday, April 13 (7-8:30 p.m.) Tuesday Evening Book Discussion (Live) – Join the WPPL Tuesday Evening Book Club on Zoom for a discussion of American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. Please REGISTER to receive a Zoom invitation and instructions. Participants without a computer, tablet or smartphone can join using a traditional phone.

Wednesdays, April 14, 21 and 28 and May 5 (2–3:30 p.m.) Learn American Sign Language Basic Sign Language for Beginners and Beyond (Live) – In this beginner to intermediate class, students will learn how to meet and greet people, basic gestures, fingerspelling and the basics of communicating with the deaf. The instructor is Valerie Williams. Ages 10 and up are welcome. Registration begins April 7. Please provide an email address to receive Zoom instructions a few days before the first class. For the class to be interactive, we recommend you have a working microphone and webcam.

Friday, April 16 (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) Got Science? Supply Pick-Up and Program – Join us as we explore the phases of the moon and make a model lung! You will need a kit to participate in the Zoom program at 4 p.m. on April 23. Grades 1 & 2. Registering for the supply pick-up will also register you for the program on April 23. Participants must provide an email address to receive ZOOM instructions the day of the event. Registration begins April 9.
