Kelli Davisson named new Avon Middle School principal

During a Special Meeting of the Avon Local Schools Board of Education last night (April 28), members approved a three-year administrative contract for Kelli Davisson to become the new principal at Avon Middle School effective Aug. 1, 2021. She succeeds Dr. Craig Koehler who recently announced his retirement after 43 years in education.

Davisson is currently the principal at Buckeye Intermediate School in Medina County, a position she has held since 2017. She was also the associate principal at A.I. Root Middle School in the Medina City School district from 2013-2017. Her teaching experience includes working in the Medina City Schools as an elementary school teacher.

“I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the next principal of Avon Middle School,” said Davisson. “Throughout the entire interview process I felt a strong sense of pride in becoming an Avon Eagle. I look forward to developing partnerships with staff and families to continue the quality educational experiences for our students.”

Davisson holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University of Chicago, as well as a Masters in Educational Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baldwin Wallace University.

“Kelli comes to Avon with outstanding administrative experiences,” said Ben Hodge, Avon Local Schools assistant superintendent. “She impressed our interview team with her collaborative approach to solve problems. We are excited she is an Avon Eagle.”

Davisson resides in Westlake with her husband Keith, daughter Riley, 12, (sixth-grader at Dover Intermediate School, Westlake); son Jimmer, 9 (third-grader at Westlake Elementary School); and stepdaughter, Stella, 15, (sophomore at Westlake High School).
