Westlake Police report that a woman who brandished a handgun at Crocker Park Saturday was later apprehended in Cleveland after a car chase that involved stop-sticks to flatten the tires of the Escalade she was in.

On Saturday 5/15/21 at approx. 9:15 PM WPD received a call from Crocker Park Security indicating that they received several complaints of a subject who was walking around the shopping center with a handgun. More alarming, the reports were that the subject actually pointed the firearm at a victim in the area of the Hyatt Hotel while verbally threatening them.
Officers responded and learned that the group of 3 persons had walked from the area toward a parking garage. The 3 persons of interest entered a Cadillac Escalade and left the area despite officers attempting to stop the vehicle on property.
A vehicle pursuit ensued onto I90 E/B during which tires of the SUV were deflated with Stop Sticks. The suspect vehicle made it to South Marginal Road and W.140 th St before stopping. 3 subjects were detained without further incident. A semi- auto handgun was recovered from the vehicle. The driver, a 33yo Akron female, was identified as the person brandishing the firearm at Crocker Park. She tested over the legal limit of alcohol by breath and had a suspended license as well.
Charges of Felony Fleeing, Aggravated Menacing, Improper Handling of a firearm in a Motor Vehicle, OVI, Driving Under Suspension and Using Weapons While Intoxicated are expected to be filed on Monday 5/17. A female passenger, a 30yo Cleveland resident, was charged with Disorderly Conduct While Intoxicated. She was later released to a sober party. A 2nd passenger in the vehicle, a 28yo male, was released without charges. There were no injuries reported by any persons during this incident and no shots were fired.
