Veteran law enforcement officer Dan Fishbach was sworn in as Chief of Police for the City of Avon by Mayor Bryan Jensen on July 1 in ceremonies at Avon City Hall.
Chief Fishbach brings more than 25 years of experience to the role, rising in the ranks with Avon from dispatcher to patrol officer to sergeant to lieutenant. He has even served as a member of the department’s dive team.
Fishbach takes the reins from Richard Bosley, who retired at the of June after 22 years with the department.
For Chief Fishbach, police work runs in the family. His brother, Larry, is a captain with the Avon Police Department. The two will work together closely. Chief Fishbach’s father, Larry, Sr., served with the Westlake Police Department.
Both Dan and Larry Fishbach were born and raised in Avon and have devoted their careers to service in their home town.
Mayor Jensen, in expressing thanks for the services of Chief Bosley, welcomed Chief Fishbach heartily and said, “I always ask myself, will we be better tomorrow than we are today. We will be!”
Leroy Medina was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, and Charles Lavelle was promoted from patrolman to sergeant.
