The City of Westlake celebrated the Grand Opening of its sparkling new Community Services Center with an official Ribbon-Cutting at the new Center on Tuesday, July 13, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The event included self-guided tours, music, refreshments, an ice cream truck, a raffle, health screenings and food prepared by St. John Medical Center’s personal chef, John Ellis.

The ribbon-cutting concludes a series of opening events for the heralded Center, which is receiving rave reviews from residents and guests alike.

The City of Westlake recently held a Dedication Ceremony for the new facility on June 18. The event corresponded with the 40th Anniversary of the Westlake Department of Community Services (originally known as the Office on Aging).

Prior to the new Community Service Center, the city utilized repurposed facilities that were not originally designed for folks over 50 or specific needs of community services. The new center offers well-thought designs like spacious gathering areas, an ample theater space, the community food pantry, banquet room and fitness spaces. Wide parking spaces and subtle handrails throughout bespeak the thoughtful design. The Rec Center walking path was even redirected to offer access to to the Center.
