Toy Soldier Rings in Crocker Park Tree Lighting

Thousands of guests jammed Crocker Park Saturday evening as a performance by the Toy Soldier rang in the annual lighting of the 50-foot Crocker Park Christmas Tree.

The holiday spirit was alive all evening as guests, some waiting for hours to see the show, enjoyed pleasant November weather and the many Crocker Park amenities.

Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough virtually welcomed all to the festivities, wishing everyone a happy holiday season and encouraging folks to share in their blessings with the less fortunate.

Then it was show time! Several happy seasonal acts warmed up the crowd prior to the winding-up of the Toy Soldier. Kids and adults alike were delighted as the Toy Soldier came to life and then interacted with the crowd, selecting several children from the audience to share in a dance with him.

Santa and Mrs. Claus then arrived via the Crocker Park Holiday Express and ascended their throne before the holiday tree. With Santa on guitar and the Toy Soldier on bells, the enormous tree sprang to colorful life as the sounds of Carol of the Bells filled the air.

The event marked the beginning of the holiday season, and Crocker Park has much to do.

Starting November 28th, The Toy Soldier and his friends will be putting on outdoor Mini Previews on the East Park Stage every Sunday at 12pm & 3pm. Enjoy this fun, festive, and free show as the entire ensemble comes to life right before your eyes. Then, head over to Santa’s Village for Photos With The Toy Soldier™ at 12:30pm & 3:30pm.

The Toy Soldier™ and his friends will also be putting on full-scale #LivePerformances at Market Square starting December 8th through the 23rd! Experience the magic of this Cleveland tradition spanning back 30-years. Tickets available now!

Other Crocker Park attractions include: Santa’s Village, featuring photos with Santa, Holiday Market, Santa’s Sleigh, Express Train and Polar X Ornaments & Gifts.

The Snowflake Garden in the West Park area in between Crepes in the City and Barroco is a winter wonderland complete with a beautifully lit archway, real pine trees, and special snowflake sculptures. It’s the perfect place to take a walk and snap a few pics with friends and family. At the Walkthrough Ornament (on the summer splash pad), step inside the massive 13-ft ornament to immerse yourself in the spirit of the season. Snap a few selfies or some pics with friends and family as the holiday lights sparkle all around you.

Or, plan an evening stroll to take in all the beautiful Holiday Street Lights strung up on the trees, high above Main St, and on all the festive decorations throughout the park. For a great photo-op, head to the front of Regal Cinemas and stand on the corner at the top of Main St across from Bar Louie and Burntwood Tavern. You’ll be able to get the overhead lights strung across the street as well as the 50-ft tree in your shot!

Also back this year is the outdoor Ice Skating Rink for the holiday season! As usual, it is located in Union Square right in front of Regal Cinemas. (And yes, it is real, actual ice created from water cooled to below 32° F).

Just Like Times Square…
