Punkin Chunkin’ in Bay

Congratulations to our record-breaking BMS 6th grade Punkin Chunkin teams, who were recognized at the School Board meeting!

October means one thing in Bay – Punkin Chunkin’ in Cahoon Park with Bay Middle School students!

For the fourth year, this new Bay tradition brings physics outdoors for Bay Middle School kids as they form teams and build catapults, slingshots and more to test their skills at Punkin Chunkin’! It’s all part of a STEM activity initiated by teacher Brent Illenberger four years ago after he saw a similar event on Discovery TV. Today, all manner of Chunkin devices are utilized in a stunning display of creativity and fun by the students. From trebuchets to simply tossing punkins, it was fun in the sun on a beautiful October afternoon.
