Avon Lake Schools Happenings…

Learwood Middle School Living Wax Museum

Kaidyn Luznar, 13 – Freddie Mercury, British singer and songwriter, lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. “I chose Freddie Mercury because I look up to him. He did a lot of very unique stuff in his life. Queen is my favorite band.”

History comes to life on Friday, Jan. 27 at Learwood Middle School in Avon Lake as eighth-grade students from Elizabeth Moffat’s English Language Arts (ELA) class participate in a Living Wax Museum.

The students have been conducting research on a person of their choice who shows attributes of: bravery, courage, determination, compassion, among others. They were dressed in character and had a monologue ready to share with guests.

Some of the wax figures include Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Muhammad Ali, Princess Diana and Rosa Parks. The students were ready to answer questions that guests had for them about their person’s life. This was a fun and engaging learning activity for both students and guests.
