Several members of the Avon High School Leo Club participated in an Avon Center Cemetery Gravestone Cleaning Project for the City of Avon Landmarks Preservation Commission on Saturday, Sept. 23. Several students were onsite assisting with the cleanup of gravestones. The cemetery is located right at the corner of SR 83 and Detroit Roads.
Cynthia A. Murnyack-Czarnecki, a member of the City of Avon Landmarks Preservation Commission, reached out to Avon High School regarding the project. The Leo Club was then asked to work with this project because it is a volunteer-based club.
Leo clubs are a youth organization of Lions Clubs International. Leo clubs encourage youths to develop leadership qualities by participating in social service activities.
