50 Years on the Job! Avon Place Celebrates Eve Mueke

Eve Mueke started her 50-year journey at Good Samaritan, which is now Avon Place, on August 29 in the year 1974.

It was her 16th birthday on her first day of employment. She was a timid 16-year-old kid who was afraid to start work because she would be working with older adults. She has now been taking care of people as an STNA at this building for 50 years.

To put that in perspective, gas in 1974 was 30 cents a gallon. The average household income was $11 thousand a year. UPC codes, liposuction and Post It notes were some of the inventions in 1974.

“Eve Mueke has been a wonderful staff member here and has continually taken great care of our residents at Avon Place,” said Rob Peterson, Administrator, at a reception in Eve’s honor last Thursday.

Her husband, Tim, and her daughters, Courtney and Mallory, were able to join in the surprise at her 50th Anniversary party at the building on September 5.

She was even congratulated by Avon’s mayor Bryan Jensen. Mayor Jensen was awe struck of how many years she worked at this building and was so proud of her achievement.

The nursing home has dedicated a tree that is recognized by a plaque alongside of the tree that reads ‘Eve’s Tree.’ This tree symbolizes Eve’s longevity and her solid work ethic at Avon Place.

“Thanks for the 50 years you have sacrificed for the residents and our staff, Eve. We look forward to you adding on to those years of selfless service to your residents and their families,’ adds Rob. “Thanks again, Eve Mueke, you are truly a gift to this building that has been shared for 50 years!”
