Westlake is beginning to work on a very special project to add to the many wonderful places in this beautiful city! For far too many years now, many residents of Westlake have been asking why we do not have a Veterans Memorial Park in our city designating a very special place to honor our members of the Armed Forces who have taken part in defending our country, our state, our city…our freedom. As you may already know, many of our neighboring communities have established these Memorial Parks.
In the past few months the special groups in Westlake that would like to see this come to fruition has grown substantially. A committee is being formed and the plan to reach out to all organizations, churches, businesses, schools and lifelong Westlake citizens to join forces to make this happen!
Several sites have been discussed and many organizations have suggested ways to secure the funds necessary. Many creative ideas are being offered and we all think we can make this happen!
The next step is to reach out to as many organizations and citizens as possible and join forces to make this Veterans Memorial Park happen! We are inviting you to become part of this project by letting us know this is important to you!
The Mayor of Westlake, The Westlake Historical Society, The Westlake Alumni Association, The Westlake City Schools, Westlake Kiwanis, Westlake Town Criers, St. Ladislas Church and the Knights of Columbus are just a sampling of groups willing to help.
TOGETHER we can make this happen. At this time we are looking for many citizens and groups to help get this project to become a reality. We ask now that you reply to one of the organizing members listed below to express your interest in being part of this wonderful project. The first meeting is set for Oct. 6th at 7pm at St. Ladislas Church, 2345 Bassett Rd. Please respond to one of the emails listed below indicating your interest and whether or not you will attend the meeting!
