Bay Village Police Comment on Homicide

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 1:57am, the Bay Village Police Department received a 911 transfer call from Erica Wandzel. Wandzel told police she shot her roommate. Bay Village Police and Fire units responded to the scene. The male roommate, Anthony James Hein, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:07am by medical personnel. 

Wandzel was taken into custody and later medically cleared by local hospital staff. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office were contacted to process the scene. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office will be contacted to determine charges. This is an on-going investigation and more information will be released when available.
