Huck Kurinsky, a 9-year-old BMX freestyle rider from Bay Village, Ohio, has secured his third consecutive USA BMX Freestyle National Championship title. Huck, a fourth-grader at Westerly Elementary School, competed this past weekend at the US Cycling Olympic Training Center in South Jordan, Utah.
Kurinsky celebrated his victory alongside US Cycling Olympic Head Coach, and BMX Legend, Ryan Nyquist. This win further solidifies Kurinsky’s position as a rising star in this Olympic sport.
In addition to his national championship win, Kurinsky recently achieved another impressive milestone: landing a double backflip. He accomplished this feat while training at the “Super Ramps” facility in Utah, the renowned Nitro Circus practice compound. Kurinsky is one of the youngest riders ever to successfully land a double backflip.
“I’m so excited to win another national championship and land the double backflip,” said Kurinsky. “It was hard and I was so nervous, but I’ve had so much fun training in Utah, riding with my friends and some of the best riders in the world.”
Huck is proud to be the first Global Youth Ambassador for 135-year-old bike brand Huffy Bicycles, where he embodies the mottos, “Live the Ride” and “Be Bigger than the Bike.”
While in Salt Lake City, Kurinsky visited the local Ronald McDonald House, where he toured the facility, met with families, and donated bicycles and scooters for the families to enjoy during their stay. This marks the fifth Ronald McDonald House that Kurinsky has visited while ompeting in the USA BMX Amateur National Series.
Huck is a fourth-grader at Westerly Elementary School in Bay Village, Ohio. He attends Bethesda on the Bay Lutheran Church, and plays soccer for the Cleveland Force and Bay Soccer Club.
