While fighting the elements last Friday, for the second season in a row the top seeded Avon Eagles (14-0) have won the Division II, Region 6 championship 28-20 over Highland (13-1). The Eagles have taken Highland out of the postseason for the sixth time since 2014.
The Eagles scored on the first play, then again after a fumble at the kickoff and held Highland off. Avon’s Nolan Good, Great Lakes District Offensive Player of the Year, ran for 118 yards with a touchdown with Tyler Kauffman adding 90 yards and 2 scores.
What’s Next for Avon football in the OHSAA playoffs
Avon plays Archbishop Hoban (12-2), Friday, in a state semifinal this Friday, 7 p.m. at InfoCision Stadium at the University of Akron.
