Westlake Library Introduces New Young Adult Librarian

Westlake Porter Public Library has welcomed Bethany Huck as their new Young Adult Librarian. Huck started her position in November, just in time to oversee the new Young Adult area created by the recent renovation project and is putting her stamp on the library’s Young Adult collection and activities.

Huck received a Bachelor of Arts from Case Western Reserve University and a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University. She spent nearly ten years in private and public librarianship before transitioning to education, where she spent three years teaching Reading and Language Arts to grades 3 and 4. While Huck enjoyed teaching, she missed the library atmosphere so decided to make the move back to libraries.

“Our commitment to providing a welcoming space for teens meant bringing on board someone with experience and the desire to work with tweens and teens through our programming and engagement,” said Youth Services Manager Rebecca Shook. “Bethany has the combination of experience, skills and knowledge of teen development we were seeking and has hit the ground running, connecting with our teen community through conversation and programs. We are so excited that she has joined the Youth Services Department at WPPL.”
