Ford plant manager John Mullin and Sheffield Lake Mayor Rocky Radeff share in the excitement with community students as the new Guenther Park Splash Pad is announced.
Sheffield Lake’s popular Guenther Park will become even more popular next summer thanks to a $225,000 gift from Ford Motor Company.
Mayor Rocky Radeff accepted a donation check from Plant Manager John Mullins at the park last Friday. The money will go toward a Splash Pad and other improvements.
“I am excited to announce that Ford, in collaboration with the City of Sheffield Lake, has made a generous donation of $225,000 to enhance Guenther Park,” said Mayor Radeff. “This donation will allow us to build a state-of-the-art splash pad that will bring joy and excitement to children and families for years to come.
Dignitaries assembled to celebrate and thank Ford Motor Co. for its generous gift to the community.
“As we gather today, we’re not only celebrating this exciting new addition to Guenther Park, but also acknowledging the significant presence of the Ford plant right here in our backyard. Ford’s commitment to this community is felt every day, and today, we’re seeing that commitment in action through this generous donation. The Splash Pad project shown here is projected to be completed by the summer of ‘26.”
On hand for the ceremony were Sheffield Lake elementary school students as well as John Mullins, Plant Manager of Ohio Assembly Plant, Tony Gallo, President of the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, Lisa Hutson, President of ONE Lorain County, John Bryan, Board Chair of the Chamber and VP Sibley Inc., Phil Truax, Truax Law, Katie Kreps, Sprenger Healthcare, Mark Spaetzel, Mayor of Avon Lake, Rick Rosso President of Sheffield Lake City Council, Sheffield Lake Safety Forces Chief Dave Novak and Chief Andrew Kory, and Pat Hastings Sheffield Lake Service Director and Project Manager for this project.
