An Avon landmark celebrated a grand reopening last week as Shinko’s Country Store marked its transformation to the Heart of Avon Marketplace.
Anne Marie Shinko-Brown hosted the open house for family and friends for the new and upcoming Heart of Avon Marketplace (2536-2540 Stoney Ridge, Avon).
The open house showcased the work she and her husband accomplished in preserving two historic buildings in Avon.
Mayor Jensen was present as well and acknowledged them for their hard work and determination. Anne Marie also invited local companies to say thank you for their assistance with the preservation.
“In starting up the business, these supporters realized how challenging it can be—the costs are high, and there are many roadblocks,” said Ann Marie. “Something magical happens when you ask for help. People step up.”
Many local companies volunteered their time, gave discounts and expertise, and some provided a nonmonetary donation. “Experiences like that show what a special community Avon is in being part of the ‘Heart’,” said Ann Marie.
