Westlake Porter Public Library’s March Calendar of Events

Following is Westlake Porter Public Library’s March 2026 calendar of events. All programs are subject to change. Please check westlakelibrary.org or follow the library on Facebook and Instagram (@WestlakePorter) for the latest updates.

Mondays, March 2 and 30 (10-10:30 a.m.) Music Monday – Develop pre-reading skills with music, movement and rhythm through stories, songs and rhymes. Ages 2-6 with a caregiver, siblings welcome. No registration required.

Mondays, March 2, 9, 16 and 23 (3-5 p.m.) Teen Lounge – Need a place to hang after school? Come to WPPL’s Teen Lounge on Monday afternoons. Enjoy some video games, board games, snacks and more. No registration required. Grades 7-12.

Tuesday, March 3 (6-7:30 p.m.) and Saturday, March 7 (10:30 a.m.-noon) Makerspace Foundations: CNC Orientation – Attend an orientation to learn the basics of using the CNC router and become a verified user of the machine. Registration begins one week before each session.

Tuesday, March 3 (7–8:30 p.m.) World at War Forum and Women in History Present: Julia Child – Julia Child, the world-famous chef best known for her cookbooks and TV shows, joined the OSS, the forerunner of the CIA, as an administrative assistant during WWII and later volunteered for overseas service in India and China. Please register.

Wednesday, March 4 (2-3 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Michael Perry, “Fire Sword and Sea” – Join us in conversation with bestselling author and humorist Michael Perry, whose collection of genre-spanning works encapsulates the experiences–and the magic–of rural town communities and the everyday people who reside in them. Please register.

Wednesdays, March 4 and 25 (3-5 p.m.) Teen Game Room: Tabletop Edition – Calling all teen adventurers! This space is just for you, so bring your party to quest at the library. A limited collection of dice, minis, and play mats will be available for use. Grades 5-12. No registration required.

Wednesdays, March 4, 11, 18 and 25 (5-6 p.m.) Bow Wow Books – Stop by Youth Services to sign up for a 10-minute reading time with a reading therapy dog. Sign-up starts at 4:30 p.m. Grades K-4.

Wednesday, March 4 (6-6:30 p.m.) Meet Your Makerspace! – What is the Makerspace? What can you make? Come and learn all about the equipment available and what is required to use it! Registration begins February 25.

Wednesday, March 4 (6:30-8:30 p.m.) Horror Film Club – Join us for another creepy classic from the Vault! New members are welcome, but children under 13 must be with an adult. Please register.

Thursday, March 5 (10-11:30 a.m.) Introduction to Proposal Writing – Are you new to proposal writing or want a quick refresher? If so, you don’t want to miss one of Candid’s most popular classes. Presented by David Holmes of Candid. Please register.

Thursday, March 5 and Monday, March 23 (1-7 p.m.) American Red Cross Bloodmobile – Please give blood with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Thursday, March 5 (3-4 p.m.) Tech Bytes: iPhone and iPad Help Session – Have quick questions about your iPhone or iPad? Need help with basic features or apps? Join our Help Session for a casual drop-in opportunity to learn and share tips.

Thursdays, March 5, 12, 19 and 26 (4:30-6:30 p.m.) Homework Help – Sometimes learning is just hard. It helps to practice school skills with someone who has been through it too. Teen volunteers are standing by for drop-in homework help. Grades 1-6.

Saturdays, March 7, 14 and 21 (10:30-11 a.m.) Family Storytime – Join us for rhymes, songs and play! Ages 2-6 with a caregiver. No registration required.

Saturday, March 7 (1-2 p.m.) Pokémon Fun! – This will be a time to view and trade cards, do a craft, battle your librarian, or play a Pokémon Bingo game. Feel free to bring your cards! No registration required. Ages 6-11.

Saturday, March 7 (3-3:45 p.m.) Let’s Draw Seussical Creatures! – Learn to draw some of Dr. Seuss’ most iconic characters from one of WPPL’s artists! Registration begins February 28.

Sunday, March 8 (1:30-3 p.m.) State of the Library Address Presented by the Director of Westlake Porter Public Library – This presentation will discuss the library’s current status, achievements, challenges, and future plans. All are welcome to join and there will be time for questions and comments after the presentation. No registration required.

Sunday, March 8 (2-3 p.m.) Come Play With Me – Open playtime for children ages 2-5 with a caring adult. Siblings welcome! No registration required.

Sunday, March 8 (2-3 p.m.) Chess Club – Drop in and hone your skills or learn how to play chess in this casual, non-competitive club. Some sets provided, but feel free to bring your own. No registration required. Grades 1-4.

Monday, March 9 (All Day) March Craft Kit Pick Up – Celebrate March with some fun crafts. Space is limited. Registration required, beginning March 2. Crafts recommended for ages 3-7.

Monday, March 9 (10-10:45 a.m.) STEAM Ahead: Going Green – What does it mean to go green? After we make the color green, let’s plant some seeds and learn other ways to help the earth. Ages 4-6, up to kindergarten. Registration begins March 2.

Monday, March 9 (4:30-5:15 p.m.) Tinkering with Tinkercad – Explore 3D design with Tinkercad! Learn the basics, start a project, and return to the Makerspace later to finish. No printing during the session. Grades 3-6. Registration begins March 2.

Monday, March 9 (7-8 p.m.) Earth “kind” Meetup Group – Meet with other veg/plant-based- curious individuals to discover new flavors, new foods and more ways to be kind to yourselves and to our earth. This group will meet most months on the second Monday of the month. Various topics will be discussed. No registration required.

Tuesday, March 10 (11 a.m.-noon) Seated Dance Class for Adults with Disabilities – Active for Life presents a low-impact and fun seated dance program taught by a certified seated dance instructor. For all abilities and all bodies. For adults with disabilities and caregivers. Adaptive gear is limited on a first-come, first-served basis. All registrants will be able to participate in the seated dance class. Registration begins March 3.

Tuesday March 10 (7-8:30 p.m.) Tuesday Evening Book Club (In Person AND Virtual) – Join the WPPL Tuesday Evening Book Club in person or on Zoom to discuss “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. The discussion will be held in person and on Zoom simultaneously. Please register. If you register for the Zoom option, you will receive a Zoom invitation and instructions by email.

Tuesday, March 10 (7-8 p.m.) Let’s Talk! Spanish Language Social Hour-¡Hablemos! Hora Social en Español – Meet other fluent Spanish speakers for informal conversation. Register to join.

Wednesdays, March 11 and 18 (3-4 p.m.) Snacktivity – Who says you can’t play with your food? Drop by the Teen Lounge for a snack-related activity. Enjoy the process then eat the results. All snacks will be assembled and consumed in the Craft Room. While supplies last. Grades 5-12. No registration required.

Wednesday, March 11 (4-5 p.m.) After School in the ‘Space – Tweens and teens are welcome in the Makerspace to create a project with the Makerspace equipment! Participants must have a signed user agreement from a parent or guardian on file. For ages 11-15. Registration begins March 4.

Wednesday, March 11 (7-8 p.m.) NSP Live: Mid-Century Horror Movies! – Join Cat, the writer behind WPPL’s Nostalgic Showcase Presents blogs, for an informative presentation on mid-century horror movies in America and the impact they have on our pop culture! Grades 9-Adult. No registration required.

Wednesday, March 11 (7-8:30 p.m.) Environmentalism Book Club – This month’s title is “The Book of Hope” by Jane Goodall. Please register.

Thursday, March 12 (5-6 p.m.) Social Hour for Teens with Autism – This social hour is a safe and fun space for teens and young adults with autism who are currently enrolled in high school to meet and hang out! There will be snacks and games. We are pleased to partner with the Cuyahoga Board of Developmental Disabilities as a Library Facilitator location. WPPL thanks the Cuyahoga County Board of DD for their grant to accomplish a year of inclusive programming. No registration required.

Thursday, March 12 (7-8:15 p.m.) Thursday Night Book Discussion – This month’s title is “The Book Club for Troublesome Women” by Marie Bostwick. A limited number of copies will be available at the Circulation Desk. No registration required.

Thursday, March 12 (2-3 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Kate Quinn, “The Astral Library” – Join us online for a virtual conversation with acclaimed author Kate Quinn about her latest fantastical work, The Astral Library, which poses the question: Have you ever wished you could live inside a book? Welcome to the Astral Library, where books are not just objects, but doors to new worlds, new lives, and new futures. Streamed live. Please register.

Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 22 (2-3 p.m.) Brick Builders – Do you love Legos©? Then bring your ideas and imagination to Brick Builders! Bricks provided. No registration is required, but room capacity is limited. First come, first served. Ages 5-12.

Monday, March 16 (10:30-11 a.m.) Little Yogis – Stretch, breathe, and move through fun poses that build balance, focus, and joy in this yoga session for children up to age 5 with a caregiver. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Ages 0-5. Presented by certified yoga instructor Jen Nebraska. Registration begins March 9.

Monday, March 16 (1-2 p.m.) True Crime Book Club – This month’s title is “If You Tell,” by Gregg Olsen. Please register.

Monday, March 16 (5-6 p.m.) Greater Cleveland Film Commission with Lowell Perry: Ohio Not Only Goes to the Movies, Ohio is the Movies – Discover Ohio’s surprising starring role in Hollywood and learn how you can break into the film industry during this fast-paced, visually-filled evening with Lowell Perry of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission. Monday, March 16 (7-8 p.m.) Social Security Planning – As you near retirement, one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll make is when to start receiving Social Security retirement benefits. In this seminar presented by Dave Herwerden of Westpoint Wealth Management you’ll learn how to explore your options and make an informed, well-reasoned decision. Please register.

Tuesday, March 17 (2-3:30 p.m.) Estate Planning Basics – Join estate planning attorney Elizabeth Perla for an informative session. Bring your questions and leave with a clearer understanding of how estate planning can benefit you and your family’s future. Please register.

Tuesday, March 17 (6-7 p.m.) Print a Pot – Get ready for spring by planting kitchen herbs in a 3D-printed pot while learning about 3D printing. Choose your pot and color at registration so we can plant during the program. One pot per registrant. Registration begins March 10.

Wednesday, March 18 (11-11:45 a.m.) Adult Stories – Adults with disabilities laugh, sing, listen to stories, and do a craft or a coloring page.

Wednesday, March 18 (2-3 p.m.) Wednesday Afternoon Book Discussion – The Wednesday Book Group meets the third Wednesday of each month. This month’s title is “Broken Country” by Clare Leslie Hall. No registration required.

Wednesday, March 18 (6:30-8 p.m.) Artificial Intelligence: Forecasts for 2026 – Miroslav Humer is the Vice President for University Technology and Chief Information Officer at Case Western Reserve University. He will discuss how artificial intelligence will continue to change in 2026. Please register.

Thursday, March 19 (3-4 p.m.) Tech Bytes: Android Help Session – Have quick questions about your Android device? Need help with basic features or navigation? Join our Help Session for a casual drop-in opportunity to learn and share tips! No registration required.

Saturday, March 21 (10 a.m.-noon) SAT Practice Test – Want to get in some practice before taking the SAT? Sylvan Learning will be here to simulate the exact environment for taking the SAT. Bring your own calculator and a #2 pencil. Grades 8-12. Registration begins March 14.

Saturday, March 21 (2-4 p.m.) Tapestry Weaving: You and Me – Adults and children in grades 3-5 learn the basics of weaving while experimenting with color and texture as they collaborate on a single woven project. Each child will get a loom to keep. Grades 3-5. Registration begins March 14.

Sunday, March 22 (All Day) Community Crocheted/Knitted Wildflower Garden – The Westlake High School Crochet Club and Westlake Porter Public Library invite local yarn enthusiasts to contribute crocheted or knitted wildflowers and pollinators to a community wildflower garden on display from Sunday, April 19 through mid-May in WPPL’s lobby. Item drop off is March 18-22. Please register.

Sunday, March 22 (3-4 p.m.) National Crayon Day Craft – Drop in and make your own one-of-a-kind melted crayon “painting,” color crayon themed coloring pages, and more to celebrate National Crayon Day! No registration required. Grades 2-5.

Monday, March 23 (7-8:30 p.m.) Big Read: “Bite by Bite: Nourishments & Jamborees” by author, Aimee Nezhukumatathil – Join us to discuss “Bite by Bite: Nourishments & Jamborees” by Aimee Nezhukumatathil as part of Cuyahoga County’s the Bite Into Books initiative. Registration begins February 25.

Tuesday, March 24 (11 a.m.-noon) Yoga Nidra with Sound Bath – Join Maria Perme, owner of MPP Wellness, for a session of Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation technique for deep relaxation. No yoga experience necessary. Please bring a yoga mat and blanket. Registration begins February 24.

Tuesday, March 24 (7-8 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Shoshana Walter, “Rehab” – Join us for a special conversation between award-winning journalist Shoshana Walter and bestselling and award-winning author Barbara Kingsolver as they chat about Walter’s book, “Rehab: An American Scandal.” Streamed live. Tuesday, March 24 (7-8:30 p.m.) King George III: A Complex Legacy – Julie Koenig from Royally Amused steps into the complex and fascinating world of King George III, whose long reign witnessed the rise of the British Empire and loss of the American colonies. Registration begins February 24.

Wednesday, March 25 (7–8 p.m.) Adult Creative Writing Group: Celebrate Irish Poetry – Join us for an hour of writing prompts to inspire you to keep writing. Creativity is more than putting pen to paper. It’s about breaking away and trying something new! For adults and teens age 16 and up. Registration begins February 25.

Thursday, March 26 (3-4:30 p.m.) Digital Transfer Stations: Analog to Digital – Did you know you could digitize your old, physical media at the library? Attend this info session to learn about our Digital Transfer Stations! Registration begins February 24.

Saturday, March 28 (10:30 a.m.-noon) Makerspace Basics: Knitting Machine – Learn how to create knit panels for items like garments and housewares during this introductory program. Registration begins March 21.

Saturday, March 28 (10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.) Life-Size Mario Party – Play an IRL version of Super Mario Party with family and friends. Time slot sign-ups will be in person on the day. All ages. No registration required.

Saturday, March 28 (1:30-2:30 p.m.) Kids in the Kitchen – Gain important cooking skills while making 1 or 2 recipes. For children with disabilities. Tasting is not required. Ages 8-12. Registration begins March 21.

Saturday, March 28 (2-4 p.m.) Make It, Take It! – Stop by Youth Services to complete a featured craft. While supplies last. No registration required. Not available for pickup at the drive-up window. PreK-grade 2.

Sunday, March 29 (2-2:45 p.m.) Out of this World: Presented by Dinosaur O’Dell – Blast off on an interactive journey through our solar system! Explore planets, meet a space alien, and sing about solar eclipses to celebrate NASA’s Artemis II launch. Grades K-5, siblings welcome. Registration begins March 22.

Tuesday, March 31 (7-8:30 p.m.) The SAR and Revolutionary War Patriots: Keeping Alive the Memory of the Revolution – Join J. Atlee Horner as he describes the activities and history of the Sons of the American Revolution and tells stories of several American patriots and how they experienced the American Revolution. Registration begins February 23.
