In May 2025, an ordinary varsity lacrosse game turned tragic when sophomore defenseman, Dylan Veselic, was accidentally hit with a shot on goal which resulted in his death.
Dylan was a beacon of joy, laughter and determination whose passion for lacrosse and soccer shaped many of his days. In the aftermath of his death, Dylan’s family, teammates and friends were supported by an outpouring of love from surrounding teams and communities. The darkest of times brought to light the best in us. That light helped those who loved Dylan find a path to carry on.
The Play for Dylan Community Fest will be held on Sunday, April 26 from 12 pm to 5 pm at BHS Memorial Stadium, 29230 Wolf Road in Bay Village OH to celebrate Dylan’s life, the healing power of community and the love of lacrosse. This free family-friendly event will feature co-ed lacrosse scrimmages, children’s games, live music, food trucks and concessions. The event will culminate with the dedication of the Dylan Veselic Memorial Locker Room.
Proceeds raised in conjunction with the Play for Dylan Community Fest will go to establish the Dylan Veselic Memorial Scholarship Fund. That fund will be administered by the Bay Village Education Foundation, an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 1986 to support and enhance the educational experience of all those involved with the Bay Village City Schools.
