City of Bay Award $1.7 Million for Cahoon Lakefront Project

The City of Bay Village announces that is has recently been awarded $1,761,770 through the Natural Resources Assistance Council (NRAC) and Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) Clean Ohio Fund, providing another major step forward for the Cahoon Memorial Park Lakefront Project. This award builds on the $750,000 Lake Erie Community Grant and $100,000 State Capital Budget Appropriation secured earlier in 2026.

Once complete, the project will strengthen this regional network of attractions, enhance the visitor experience, and help ensure the long-term resilience of this important section of Lake Erie shoreline. “This funding represents more than an investment in infrastructure,” said Mayor Koomar. “It is an investment in environmental stewardship, public access, and the quality of life that makes Bay Village such a special community. We are deeply grateful to our funding partners for helping us transform a long-envisioned, and community-supported project into reality.”

The city remains committed to advancing the project and looks forward to continuing its collaboration with local, regional, state, and federal partners as this transformational improvement moves toward construction.
