The City of Westlake wants you to remember that legitimate companies or government agencies will not ask you to buy gift cards and read them or send them identifying codes over the phone or via email – no matter how good the reason seems or under threats of police reports, warrants and/or arrest. Be very wary of a type of scam in online sales where the buyer sends you more than the asking price or includes extra funds that they would like refunded to them for any reason.
