Holiday Collection Drives in Avon Lake

The holiday spirit is alive and well in the Avon Lake City Schools. Several holiday collection drives are taking place in all our schools for various charitable organizations in the community. Many of our schools collected items for Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services (CRS). The Avon Lake Board of Education office collected items for themed family baskets for CRS. Redwood Student Council members also participated in Salvation Army collections at Giant Eagle. A third-grade class at Westview Elementary created bags to donate to the St. Malachi’s shelter in Cleveland. Included in the bags were letters from students, gloves, socks, wipes, Chapstick, water, snacks, toothbrush, toothpaste, and tissues.

Shot out once again to Learwood Middle School head custodian, Mark Brandt, who organized the annual Veteran Blanket Drive throughout the district. More than 135 blankets and 53 pairs of socks were collected and donated to the Ohio Veterans Home.
