The LCADA Way, our area’s non-profit alcohol and drug prevention and treatment agency, announced today a reorganization of its executive leadership team effective July 1, 2020. The current President & CEO Thomas D. Stuber will become President & Chief Legislative Officer (CLO) and current Chief Operating Officer Dan Haight will become President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the organization.
“This realignment of leadership at the agency helps us strengthen and position not only the organization but also the field of Behavioral Health for the future,” said Thomas D. Stuber, current President and CEO. “Having Dan become our CEO will allow me to spend more time in Columbus and work with other agencies statewide and federally to guide our legislative agenda. Dan’s working knowledge of the day to day operations of The LCADA Way, along with his keen insights into our financials and long-term strategy, makes him the perfect person to move up and run things as CEO here at the agency.”
Tom Stuber has been the President & Chief Executive Officer at The LCADA Way, formerly the Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services center, for over 21 years, leading the organization out of a management and fiscal crisis while setting new standards, accountability and quality improvement programs. His vision to become a Center of Clinical Excellence through the implementation of outcome-based research and professional education of staff and the field, along with guiding a positive customer service philosophy is still adhered to today. Tom is a graduate of Kent State University (BS) and Wright State University (MS) and Ashland University (MBA). He is an Adjunct Professor of Addiction Counseling at LCCC and Ashland University. He completed post graduate training at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and The Johnson Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Prior to LCADA, Tom started his addiction treatment career at Lakeland Institute. He also held clinical and management leadership positions at Laurelwood Hospital and Recovery Resources. He returned to Lorain County to head up The LCADA Way in 1999. At the onset of the Opiate Epidemic he helped The LCADA Way focus on developing effective services and models of care to address the needs of those addicted to opiates and their families. These services include the first Ambulatory Detox Program in the area, Medication Assisted Treatment, Opiate specific research-based curriculums, and treatment models. He most recently received the Community Organizer Award for Excellence from Lorain UMADOAP and the Leadership Lorain County’s 2019 Eric Nord Award. Tom also serves on many committees and Boards throughout the state and is President of the Ohio Alliance of Recovery Providers.
Dan Haight has been Chief Operating Officer at The LCADA Way since 2011, with over twenty years of executive level management experience in behavioral health organizations in operations, IT, finance, community collaboration, medical services, human resources, grants management and Joint Commission accreditation . He was an integral part of a management team that grew the agency from a $4M to $10 annual budget as project lead on Joint Commission Accreditation, Telemedicine implementation, and Electronic Health Records implementation. He oversees developing new programs and grant writing and is the agency’s Corporate Compliance Officer, Client Rights Officer, HIPPA Privacy and Security Officer.
Prior to The LCADA Way, Dan spent twelve years in multiple roles at The Nord Center as Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Interim Executive Director, Associate Executive Director of Administrative Services and Director of Information Services. Earlier in his career Dan was Systems Administrator at the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office and Deputy Director for the City of Lorain MIS Department. At The LCADA Way, Dan was responsible for the business operations over the past 9 years, which today represents $8 million dollars in assets and an operating budget of $10 million dollars. Dan holds degrees from Baldwin-Wallace College (BA) and Cleveland State University (MBA). He is active in local volunteer activities throughout the community with the Elyria Rotary Club, Leadership Lorain County, and is on the Midview School Board. Dan lives in Grafton with his wife Julie and two children.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to lead the organization at this time,” said Mr. Haight. “Having navigated the change we’ve endured through our ongoing growth and the more recent COVID-19 pandemic, I’m pleased to say the timing is right for this move. Tom has and will continue to be a mentor of mine. He will now be able to concentrate more of his time on the legislative side of our business, and I’ll focus on the operations and overall growth plans for The LCADA Way. We’ll continue to operate as a strong leadership team and have the full support of our excellent Board of Directors.”
