Arrests Made in Westlake Apartment Robbery & Kidnapping

Westlake Police report that three persons have been arrested in conjunction with the robbery and assault incident that took place at Columbia Colony Apartments last week.

On 3/16/21 the 3 arrested persons were each charged with felony kidnapping and aggravated robbery. A 35yo male from North Royalton, a 36 yo Brooklyn, OH male and a 26yo female, also from Brooklyn, Ohio were each taken to Cuyahoga County Jail under a $200,000 Cash/Surety bond.

On 3/15/2021 at approximately 7:41AM officers were called to the Columbia Colony Apartments at 25635 Center Ridge Road for a reported assault and robbery in progress.

Witnesses reported that several males were involved and several had left the area on foot. A handgun was also seen. Officers from Westlake and several surrounding agencies responded. 

As the 2 victims from the apartment building were being interviewed by police and treated medically by Westlake Fire, officers set up a perimeter to find the perpetrators. 

One male was located in the woods behind the apartment complex. The second male was located near the shopping plaza at the corner of Canterbury and Center Ridge Rds. A female, believed to be involved as well, was stopped in a silver pickup truck at Dover and Center Ridge Rds. 

The investigation revealed that the suspects had entered the apartment and tied up the victims before stealing several items. Both victims were injured during the crime. One was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life -threatening injuries. All of the suspects involved were taken into custody and a handgun was recovered. Investigators believe that this was not just a random act. They believe this specific apartment was targeted. The suspects’ motives and relationships to the victims are still being investigated.
