Slime-Time in Westlake Celebrates Kids Heart Challenge

In February, the Westlake Elementary Schools Health and PE Department held its annual Kids Heart Challenge event. During PE class the students participated in a variety of heart healthy activities including yoga, dance and cardiovascular Tabata workouts.

This annual fundraiser, formally known as Jump Rope for Heart is sponsored by the American Heart Association. The money raised helps fund the AHA’s research into cardiovascular disease and helps them educate consumers on healthy living. This year WES students raised $19,192.72. Considering the fact we are in the midst of a worldwide pandemic this amazing total exemplifies yet again what a caring and giving community we have here in Westlake, Ohio.

To celebrate this fine achievement a sliming event was held in the WES Cafeteria/Gym where the two top fundraising students Klara Drottar (1st grade) and Zoey Brozic (3rd grade) got to slime PE Teachers Mr. O’Doherty and Mr. Pace. The proceedings were live streamed throughout the building so everyone could watch.
