North Ridgeville Council has passed Resolution No. 2025-140, confirming its commitment to increase the tax credit from 0.1% to 1% upon voter approval of the proposed 0.75% income tax increase on the November 4, 2025 ballot.
The resolution, titled “A resolution confirming that a 1% income tax credit will be provided upon passage by the electors of the 0.75% income tax increase at the November 4, 2025 election, as set forth in the authorizing Resolution No. 2025-113 and introduced Ordinance No. 2025-114,” was approved by unanimous vote at last night’s Council meeting.
Council’s action directly addresses questions raised by residents regarding its intent to implement the credit if the proposed income tax increase is approved by voters.
“This resolution provides clarity and reassurance to residents,” said Mayor Kevin Corcoran. “Council’s unanimous support demonstrates a shared commitment to transparency and to ensuring that our qualifying residents receive the full 1% credit as promised.”
The proposed income tax increase, Issue 8, would raise the city’s income tax rate from 1.0% to 1.75%, with the 1% credit benefitting residents who work outside North Ridgeville and pay income tax to another municipality. For these residents, the 1% credit means they will pay less in North Ridgeville taxes, lowering their overall tax burden.
