Brian’s Furniture Celebrates 40 Years

Renee and Brian

Brian’s Furniture is celebrating 40 years in business, and the family invites the community to celebrate with them.

The story began in 1986, when Brian started selling tropical plants and other items at his parents’ flea market on 130th Street and Brookpark Road in Cleveland. When he began bringing in wood furniture, people would ask who was selling it. The answer was “It’s Brian’s Furniture” — and the name stuck.

From the beginning, Brian wanted to offer more than standard furniture. He sought out American craftsmen and builders who could make pieces to his designs, adapt their standard designs, or customize details to suit a customer’s home. In the 1980’s, that meant finding the right makers and working closely with them to meet each customer’s needs. That personal approach—and the relationships Brian built with those craftsmen and builders — remain an important part of the business today.

In 1997, Brian and Renee moved their family business to their current location at the corner of Bradley and Center Ridge Road in Westlake.

The business grew around solid wood furniture made by American craftsmen and builders, many of them in our region. Over the years, Brian has built lasting relationships with the makers behind the pieces, and many of those relationships have continued across generations of their families.

Brian’s has since grown to offer American-made upholstered furniture, lighting, artwork, area rugs, accessories and custom drapery. Its philosophy has stayed the same: offer well-made products at a good value, treat customers with care, and earn their trust for years to come.

Brian and Renee’s four children — Brian Jr., Nicholas, Natalie and Anthony — grew up in the family business. Brian Jr. and Nicholas remain closely involved in its daily operations. The family’s third generation is already part of the story: Brian Jr. and Katie’s son, Brian, represents the future of the family tradition.

At Brian’s, shopping is personal. The team offers complimentary in-store and in-home design services to help customers find pieces that suit their homes, tastes and budgets. Many furnishings can be customized with choices in style, fabric, wood and finish — and custom options don’t automatically mean a higher price. From a lamp or accent table to a roomful of furniture, the team is happy to help.

“We’re grateful to everyone who has supported our small family business,” says the family. “Over the years, many of our customers have become friends and feel like family. Thank you for trusting us and letting us be part of your homes.”
